Clinton Copenhaver, age 85, longtime Yakima Valley resident went to be in the arms of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Clint was born on July 9, 1936 the son of Jeannette (Alexander) and Art Copenhaver. He attended Outlook School and graduated from Sunnyside High School with the Class of 1954. Later graduated from Central Washington College in 1959. Later that year he also married the love of his life Joanne Culver. Clint worked for the USDA as a livestock inspector until June of 1961. He began his career at the Yakima Health Department and for the Clark County Health Department in Las Vegas, NV from 1965 to 1966. Clint returned to work for the Yakima County Health Department until retirement in 1998. After retirement Clint designed drain field for various contractor, installers, and homeowners until 2020.
He enjoyed playing baseball, softball and was a long-suffering Mariners fan. He loved hunting with family and friends. In Clint’s spare time he also was an avid reader and music lover.
Clint was a member of the Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Joanne Copenhaver of Mabton, WA. Son, Bart Copenhaver of Mabton, WA and daughter, Lori Griffith (Bruce) of Bickleton, WA. Three brothers Larry Copenhaver of Sunnyside, WA, Jerry Copenhaver, Benjamin Copenhaver (Sharon) all of Surprise, AZ. He is also survived by five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeannette and Art Copenhaver, sisters Bonnie Whited and Marilyn Dammarell, two sister-in-laws Roberta Copenhaver, Joy Copenhaver, two brother-in laws Ron Whited and Clair Dammarell.
Those wishing to honor Clint’s memory may contribute to the Grace Brethren Church Camp at Clear Lake.
Private family graveside service was held at the Glade Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church at 11:00 am on Friday, November12, 2021.
