Daniel B. Gonzalez, 81, went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 26, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Daniel was born to Rev. Marcelino and Genoveva B. Gonzalez on August 12, 1943, in Weslaco, Texas. The family migrated to Sunnyside, Washington, in 1956 to work in agriculture. He also worked as a social worker and in construction in the Hanford area. Having only completed the eighth grade, he was able to enroll in and graduate from Yakima Valley College in 1970.
Daniel, who also comes from a family of musicians, started playing in 1958 with his brothers. He later played with various bands and recorded his first record in 1965.
He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He would sit on his favorite chair and watch his favorite sports, such as baseball, football, and basketball; he loved them all. He loved traveling to various places and enjoyed his camping adventures.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dalia M. Gonzalez of Sunnyside, Washington; Danny (Terry) Gonzalez of Zillah, Washington; Ludine (Gilbert) Siller; Nena (Ezra) Yanez; and Bebo Nagle (Jesse Pacheco), all of Sunnyside, Washington. He also enjoyed his 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also survived by six siblings: Emma Gonzalez and David (Margie) Gonzalez, both of California; John (Diane) Gonzalez; Marta (Ramon) Gonzales and Fred (MaryAlice) Gonzalez, of Sunnyside, Washington; and Alice Lopez, of Grandview, Washington, and also survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces.Proceeded in death by his parents, Rev. Viewing and Visitation will be held Sunday, July 6, 2025 from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, Washington. Funeral liturgy will be held Monday, July 7, 2025 at 11:00a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, Washington, with burial to follow at Lower Valley Gardens Cemetery in Sunnyside, Washington.
