Daniel R. Pacheco Flores

Daniel Raphael Pacheco, 64, of Sunnyside, WA, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him.

Born to Rafael Pacheco and Guadalupe Pacheco Flores, Dan grew into a man of grit, humor, and quiet strength. He took pride in working hard, loving his family deeply, and standing by his word.

Dan is survived by his spouse and best friend, Carol Pacheco; his children, Eric, Blake, and Lance; and his grandchildren: Xander, Cayden, Wyatt, Ethan, Maleki, Mia, and Layla from Eric; Waylon and Harper from Blake; and Venelope and Dalilah from Lance. He is also survived by his siblings: Eva Madrigal (Tomas), Martín Pacheco (Sonia), Margarita Cornwell (James), María Pacheco, José Pacheco (Christina Parker) and Jesús Pacheco (Ermelinda Gonzalez), as well as countless friends who were lucky enough to know him.

He was preceded in death by his father Rafael Pacheco, sister María Luisa Pacheco, brother Augustine Pacheco, niece Malinda Cardenas, brother-in-law John Cardenas, and uncle Jesús Pacheco.

When he wasn’t spending time with his loved ones, Dan could often be found outside, meticulously landscaping his yard — a passion that brought him peace and joy. He was a great dad and an amazing grandfather, always ready with a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or a laugh to share.

Dan dedicated many years to working for the Sunnyside School District, where he provided not only safety but also support and guidance to the student community. His presence made a lasting impact on countless young lives, and his care for others extended far beyond his job.

He will be remembered for his strong hands, kind heart, and the love and laughter he brought into the lives of everyone who knew him. Dan found joy in the simple things — a well-kept yard, a classic western on the TV, or the rumble of a car engine — and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Visitation will be held 4-8p.m. Monday, August 18, 2025, with a evening service at 6p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, Washington. Funeral service will be at 10a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Sunnyside, Washington, with a graveside service to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens  in Sunnyside, Washington.
