Darena Marie (Homer) AhQuin was born on August 16, 1965 and was a delight to her parents, Bruce and Donna Homer, as they had waited a long time for her and were blessed with three more girls later. She enjoyed growing up with her sisters, and after graduating from high school, she attended college for two years in St. Louis. Darena was a hard worker and held various jobs. She had two daughters and one son. Her marriage to a Hawaiian introduced her to the Hawaiian culture, which she fully embraced, and she even spoke in "Pidgin English" with her Hawaiian family. Darena loved taking care of others. She listened patiently to all their problems and gave them loving support and friendly advice. If anyone needed help, she was the first to be there, lending a hand or giving a big hug. If those were not enough, she surely had something in her bottomless purse. Darena passed unexpectedly and peacefully. She will be greatly missed by her family and her multitude of friends. She is survived by her children: Alana Hokulani, Falon Kahealani, Eion Kaho'olea, Tony Duran, and Uli Juarez; her sisters: Natalie, Renee, and Jolene; the father of her children, Kipukai; her mother, Donna; her partner, Allan and his daughter, Jamie; and her only grandson, Kaleo.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Those wishing to sign Darena's online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
