David Lepez-Castillo passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Sunnyside, WA on August 3,2025
David was born in Puerto del Venado, Coalcoman, Michoacan to Benigno Lepez and Juana Castillo. David was a self-taught musician from a young age. Forming a Mariachi band along with his brothers in Mexico.
David married Matilde Alvarez in 1959 & started a family shortly after. He migrated the family to the United States in 1979 where he worked as a migrant worker. Working cutting asparagus, picking cherries and pruning trees, Monson’s Ranch amongst other jobs.
David’s passion in life was his music and playing his violin/vihuela in the Mariachi band “Guanajuato” He enjoyed going to the Casino. He enjoyed playing for the residents at a local nursing home once a week. He also enjoyed gardening and gatherings with carne asada with family and friends, where he always made sure there was watermelon ready to eat.
He is preceded in death by his father Benigno Lepez, Mother Juana Castillo, brothers Benigno Lopez, Jose Lepez, Rafael Lepez, sister Juana Lepez and sister Maria Lepez.
He is survived by his wife Matilde Lepez; his brother Jesus Lepez, sister Esperanza Lepez, son (Father Isidro Lepez S.J., daughter Graciela Sanchez, son Gabriel Lepez (Olivia Lepez), daughter Maria de la Luz Alvarez ( Jose Luis Alvarez), daughter Maria del Jesus Soberanes ( Vicente Soberanes), daughter Maria del Rosario Padilla (Alberto Padilla) daughter Angelica Maria Valladares ( Leo Valladares), daughter Olga Lepez, and 22 adoring grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be held 4:00-8:00p.m. Friday, August 8, 2025 with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, in Toppenish, Washington with a graveside service to follow at the Outlook Cemetery in Outlook, Washington.
