Delta Aileen Bootsma passed away on April 4th 2026 at Sunnyside Healthcare Center. Delta was born on March 16, 1924, in Outlook, Washington to Clinton Price and Aileen Price. She graduated from Sunnyside High School with the class of 1942 and attended Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon.
Delta returned to Outlook and started working at Sunnyside Cannery as a Lab Technician where she met the love of her life Richard “Dick” W. Bootsma Sr. by the water fountain. Then on December 12, 1945, they were married, between the both of them they had only sixty dollars and no car. Together they started their careers and operated a successful automotive repair business. Delta was a member of the Sunnyside Garden Club, Yakima Boat Club, and Independent Garage Owners. She enjoyed hummingbirds, her flower garden and watching Seahawks games with her son. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Delta is survived by her children, Richard W. Bootsma Jr. (Dina), DeAnn G. Hochhalter, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” W. Bootsma, parents, Clinton and Aileen Price, brothers Art and Donald Price, sister Nancy Newenhof, brother and sister-in-law Rex and Betty Bootsma, son-in-law Ronald Hochhalter, nephews Greg Newenhoff and Robert Bootsma.
Delta’s family extends heartful gratitude to medical staff and friends who supported her with kindness and compassionate care in her final days. They would also like to thank Smith Funeral Home for the care and support.

Viewing and Visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA. Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 1:30 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA with burial to follow at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA.
