In Loving Memory of Donald P. Riel, 1933 - 2023
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald P. Riel, a loving father, grandfather, husband, and friend, on September 30, 2023. He departed from this world surrounded by his beloved family at the age of 90.
Born in Moxee, WA March 20, 1933, Don led a life full of adventures, wisdom, and love. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Dad entered basic training in 1953 at Camp Roberts. From there he transferred to his Military Occupational Specialty at Presidio of San Francisco food service school. He received an honorable discharge in 1955 and returned home to pursue what would be his lifetime career, farming hops. Beyond his military service and farming endeavors, he was an avid hunter, RV camper, and a devout fan of the Seattle Mariners, all of which he was passionate about sharing with those around him.
Don wore many hats throughout his life, but the ones he wore with the utmost pride were those of a loving devoted husband to Ginger L. Riel, and a caring father and grandfather. Beyond family, he was a friend to many, known for his humor and charisma.
His family and friends will forever cherish the memories, lessons, and love he imparted to them. They are comforted in knowing that he is reunited with his loved ones who preceded him in death and await him in heaven, Leonide Riel (father), Florine Riel (mother), Irvin Riel (brother), Leonard Riel (brother) Ginger Riel (wife), Darrell Riel (son), Doug Riel (son), Christine Riel (daughter), Clara and Charlotte Riel (sisters-in-law), Bob Hyatt (brother-in-law) . His legacy will live on with all who knew him. Though his absence is deeply felt, his memory will always remain with us.
