Elaine Getsinger Obituary

June 25th, 1936 - June 17th 2025

Elaine June Getsinger, Age 88 went to be with the Lord and the love of her life Lyle on Tuesday June 17th. Just one day before what would have been her 73rd wedding anniversary. This is one anniversary she wasn’t going to miss.

Elaine was born on June 25th, 1936, in Riverton Wyoming to Grant & Gladys VanHountin, being the baby of their four children.

As a child Elaine resided in a few different places, but Outlook/Sunnyside is where she planted her roots making it home. Here is where she found the Lord and the love of her life Lyle Getsinger. Lyle and Elaine were married on June 18th, 1952. Now it was time to start a family. They welcomed their daughter Jeanette in 1953 and son Vernon in 1956. Their little family was complete.

Elaine was a hard worker sometimes leaving one job to rush to another. While working the line at one of the local warehouses, a co-worker told her about a nursing school she should attend. Elaine was fortunate enough to make it into the program reviving her LPN.

Elaine started her nursing career at the General Hospital emergency room later moving to the OB department where she fell in love with all those babies. She held and loved each baby just as if it were the most precious gift. Elaine had the honor in assisting in the delivery of all 8 of her grandchildren as well. What a happy grandma she was. Often when in town at the grocery store people would come up to her and say, “Hey you helped delivery me.” This would just make her heart smile.

Elaine left the hospital to care for her mother, later returning to work at Hillcrest Manor as the night-charge nurse for 25 years. The staff and residence adored her and her fancy print Muumuu dresses she wore.

Elaine was a member of the Granger Assembly of God church for many years. Here is where she made many memories, family and friends. Elaine would load up her old station wagon with all eight grandchildren, their friends, neighbor kids, her friend Elizabeth and anyone else that would fit and haul them all to church. The deacon of the church waited for her to get there so he could count how many people she fitted in her car that Sunday. Elaine loved her church and everyone in it.

Elaina was one in a million. She was an impeccable wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, friend and nurse. You could always count on her for anything. Need an ear to listen, a warm hug, prayers, toilet paper or laundry soap (always in her trunk) she had you covered.

“I am Free”

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m Free. I am following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned towards Jesus and left it all. I could not stay another day. I found peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered Joy. Be not burdened with the time of sorrow, I wish for you sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much, Good family, Good friends, Good times, A loved one’s touch. A long life, yet all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with the undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wanted me now, He has set me free.

Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly, Laugh often, Leave the rest up to God! My love and prayers always! Signing off one last time -Elaine
