Elaine LaMay Reichert, age 92, of Sunnyside, WA passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in Sunnyside, WA. Elaine was born on July 5, 1925 in Kensal, North Dakota the daughter of Susan (Neva) and John R. Pomerinke. She received her early education in Idaho, North Dakota before moving to Toppenish, WA at the age of nine. On April 13, 1943 Elaine married Sim Reichert in Yakima, WA. She was a warehouse supervisor for Andrus and Roberts in Sunnyside for thirty five years. Elaine was a member of the Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church. For many years she volunteered at the Sunnyside Hospital Gift Shop and was a member of the Sunnyside Hospital Auxiliary. Elaine loved to walk, read and cook.
Elaine is survived by one son Mike Reichert of Sunnyside, WA and a daughter, Vikki Torres (Ron Wilson) of Richland, WA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, two sisters, Isabel Noe of Yakima, WA and Irene Gallipo of Yakima, WA along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sim Reichert in 1986, daughter-in-law Jean Reichert in 2008, sisters Ruby Pomerinke, Dorothy Logsdon, Helen Baze and one brother Ernest Pomerinke.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Brethren Church in Sunnyside, WA. In lieu of flowers those wishing to honor Elaine’s memory may contribute to the Sunnyside Grace Brethren Church.
