Elvira Ayala Garcia was born in Pimentel, Michoacan to Luis Ayala and Maria Cervantes. On February of 1952 she married the love of her life Juan H. Garcia and started building their family soon after. As their family grew, her children began to migrate to the Yakima Valley and on January of 1985, Elvira and the rest of the family moved to Washington State.
Elvira and her husband Juan worked in various agriculture jobs and she even worked in a restaurant in the city of Grandview, but was most known for making and selling her delicious Mexican cheese, which she made and sold every day well into her 80’s. Their hard work allowed them to purchase their home in Mabton on June 15, 1993, where Grandpa Juan was able to grow his corn and she was able to raise many chickens, which was her passion. Elvira loved having family visit and many grandkids would spend most of their summers at their grandparent’s home. She enjoyed traveling with family and was never afraid to try new activities such as parasailing, tubing and sledding to name a few. She was loved by her family, friends and many acquaintances and will be deeply missed.
Visitation is scheduled for 4pm on Thursday November 19th followed by a service at 6pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside. A graveside service will follow on Friday, November 20th at 10 am at the Terrace Heights Memorial Park in Yakima.
