In Loving Memory of Everardo Gongora
Amado esposo, apá, abuelo, hermano, tío y amigo
09-28-1957 – 04-15-2025
Se nos fue como vivió — con las manos ocupadas, el corazón lleno, y la mirada puesta en lo que vendría.
He was up in one of his trees, carefully pruning its branches to make room for the spring blossoms. Even then, he waited — patiently — for a tiny nest of birds to hatch before touching a single branch. And in that moment of care, he lost his balance. Y se nos fue, como parte del campo que tanto amó.
He came to this country with little more than dreams in his pocket and calluses on his hands — buscando oportunidades, pero más que nada, queriendo proveer. And provide he did — not just with work, but with time.
Time was his love language. If you needed help digging a trench, wiring a house, tending the fields, or caring for a child — he was there. Siempre con gusto.
A true working man, un hombre de palabra y voluntad, he never turned away from a job too small or a friend in need. His horses knew his footsteps. His family knew his calls. Even in his busiest days, he’d stop to call — just to say: “¿Cómo estás?”
He leaves behind tierra he made fruitful, lives he made better, and hearts he made fuller.
Nos deja su ejemplo. Nos deja su tiempo. Nos deja su amor.
Descansa en paz, Amor, Apá y Abuelo. El árbol florecerá otra vez.
