Everett Van Corbach
Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of his saints.
Born the eleventh child of fifteen on October 18, 1934 to a Dutch farming family in Stickney, SD, Everett Van Corbach lived a remarkable life.
Everett’s dad bought a farm in Yakima Valley, Washington and as a boy he enjoyed all there was to being a farm boy. Working alongside his family milking cows and laboring in the fields but also the fishing, swimming and the imaginative play that sometimes get farm kids in trouble.
When he turned eighteen, he enlisted in the army and was sent to Camp Roberts in California. It was there he became smitten with a young lady named Joyce Armknecht. They were married December 8th, 1953, on a three-day pass before he was sent to Korea. When he got back, Van, (as he was known) and Joyce settled in the Santa Maria Valley and raised two daughters as a Teamster. He was an exceptional truck driver with many safety awards. Van always loved the outdoors and camping and became a Boy Scout leader. A Christian since childhood he also served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. After retirement the couple bought a big RV and toured the USA from coast-to-coast eventually returning to settle down back in the Yakima Valley. He became a volunteer child advocate for foster children with CASA while living in Yakima County.
Everett is preceded in death by his parents, William B. and Elizabeth Van Corbach and an infant sister; Brothers; Cornelius, Marion, John, Jim, Dick, Joe and Henry Van Corbach. Also, sisters; Marie McCluskey, Betty Grenz, and Bertha Van Corbach.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Joyce Van Corbach and daughters Carol (Charles) Eubank and Nora (Paul) Houtz. Also, brothers Bill and Ben Van Corbach and sister Alice Hoogstrate. He was grandfather to five and great-grandfather to five more.
