Sunnyside resident, Frances Y. Sonner passed away at her home of three years at Sunnyside Sun Terrace October 16, 2024 at the age of 96 years old. She was born on July 12, 1928 & was raised in Sunnyside. Her parents were Harold Stevens & Ruth Stevens. Frances received her education in Sunnyside and graduated from Sunnyside High School Class of 1947.
On July 18, 1948 she married Robert Sonner in Sunnyside, WA. Frances and Robert were married for forty years until Robert passed away on Feb. 24, 1988.
One of her favorite things was to go on outings with her “class bunch.” Frances and Robert enjoyed golfing, dancing, & traveling together. After Robert passed away, she enjoyed dancing & the companionship of Les Santjer. Frances was a familiar face at the post office, working and retiring after 42 years at Roza Irrigation District as the water clerk. She was preceded in death by her parents & her two brothers, Herbert Stevens & Clarence Stevens, & her husband Robert.
Frances is survived by one nephew, Doug Stevens of Sunnyside, WA. Special friend Bobby Santjer and family of Cle Elum, WA. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, Washington. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, Washington, with a graveside service to follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Garden Cemetery, in Sunnyside, Washington.
