I was saddened to learn of George's death. It serves to remind me of the many good and caring people that lived and worked in this community. I knew both Judy and George as friends of the family before I entered Jr. Hi. Judy was my 8th grade English teacher. George was my assistant basketball coach, along with Jim Ide. I'll remember him as a good man and good friend. He always had a smile and kind word upon meeting. You were never sorry to see him coming toward you, as you knew the interaction would be positive. His classroom shared a wall with John Saras, whom we also lost this year. The two of them had a long and positive affect on so many, many people. Rather than sadness, I'm am pleased and happy to have known George and his family. I'm happy to have been able to call him a friend and co-worker. As I read the lines of his obituary, I was reminded of many different memories of good times. Rest in peace, George. Thank you.

I still remember Mr. Carrick, standing tall, in the front of the classroom my seventh grade year (1967). I learned a lot from him. Rest in God's eternal peace.

Next door neighbor. Father of one of my closest friends. Avid Seattle sports fan. Huge movie buff. Great coach. Effective teacher. Loving husband. Outdoor lover. Dog person!

These are just a few of the many attributes and amazing characteristics of "Mr. Carrick" -- whom I literally didn't call 'George' until I was 21 after he scolded me for still calling him Mr Carrick. :)

To say that I respected George is an understatement. He was a true 'Rock of Gibraltar' for his family, friends, students and players. Always a straight shooter -- told it like he saw it. Unfiltered. Similar to my own dad in that respect, so I give credit to both of them for keeping me grounded in my youth! :)

So many great childhood memories with Chad, Judy and George including road trips to Seattle for sporting events, camping trips, movies and frankly just playing in their backyard because Carricks had to the coolest yard on the block. It's true. Ask Boboths, Borts, Meeses, et. al. It's where we hung out. And one of the biggest reasons was simply how warm and inviting both George and Judy were to all of us as kids.

I feel blessed to have grown up with George Carrick and his family living right next door to me. And while I will miss him terribly, I am thankful for all of the great memories and the impact he and his family had on me and mine.

Thoughts and prayers are with Chad, Judy and their entire family during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
Michael

My condolences to the family during this difficult time, no one can prepare us for the grief we experience when we lose a loved one, at 1 Peter 5:7 we are encouraged to "throw all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you." Losing a loved one is difficult but with comfort we receive from God by relying on him, a person can gain "the peace of God that surpasses all understanding..."( Phillipians 4:6,7) I want you to know that although missed your loved one is not forgotten and God who is the life giver is eager to restore life to those who have fallen asleep in death and promises to do so by means of a ressurection.
