Ginger Irene (Howell) Hysell passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Prosser, WA on July 11, 2025.
She was born in Seattle WA on November 6, 1935, to Ethel and Lawrence Howell. The family later relocated to Wild Rose Prairie near Spokane during her early upbringing, ultimately moving to Wapato, WA.
She took great pride in her family and especially enjoyed cooking for them. Ginger loved spending time crafting with her sisters, adding to her doll collection, and flashing a fresh manicure. She had a soft spot for all animals, especially dogs.
Ginger was quick to laugh and never short on sass. Her generous spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ginger is preceded in death by her second husband Robert (Bob) Hysell, son John Born and grandson Ryland Born, and sisters Donna and Janette.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Karen Burns, Rhonda (Burns) Edgley, Becky (Burns) Leslie, and Shari (Burns) Ammerman, a sister, Bette Gettig of Spokane, and many adoring grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A service honoring Ginger’s life will be held on Wednesday July 16th at 1:30 pm at Smith Funeral home in Sunnyside, WA. Burial will follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA. There will be a reception for friends and loved ones at Cork & Taps of Dominico Cellars, in Prosser, 4:00pm – 6:00pm, after the service.
