Isaac Chavez

Isaac Macias Chavez age 91 of Sunnyside, WA. passed away quietly on Thursday, May 9, 2024 in Yakima WA. Isaac was born August 1, 1932 in Worland, Wyoming, the son of Ruben and Mercedes (Macias) Chavez. He attended schools in Worland. He left Worland in 1950 and moved to Toppenish, WA where he lived on his grandparent’s farm until 1952 when he moved to Sunnyside, WA with his parents and siblings. While in Sunnyside he worked construction and did farm work. Isaac moved to Oakland CA in 1955 where he worked in a steel galvanizing plant and in the Navy shipyard.  He returned to Sunnyside in 1970 and bought a small farm where he lived until his death. Isaac was a self-employed landscaper and did a lot of handyman work. Isaac was quiet and reserved, but friendly. He had many friends. Isaac did not drink or smoke and led a good life.

Isaac is preceded in death by his parents Ruben and Mercedes (Macias) Chavez, brothers: Pete, Manuel, Ruben Jr., Daniel, and sister Juanita Chavez Moya. He is survived by brothers David and Edward and sisters Irene Chavez, Desi Appel (Ron) and Helen Lopez (Sam). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who loved him very much.
