James "J.R." Brotherton Obituary

Our beloved, son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, great nephew, and friend James Rocco Brotherton “Jr.” went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.   J.R. was born on January 4, 2002 in Yakima, WA the son of Tana (Nesmith) and James Allen Brotherton. At the age of one J.R. was faced with Muscular Dystrophy but overcame many obstacles and challenges throughout his life.  J.R. received his education in Sunnyside and graduated from Sunnyside High School with the Class of 2020.   He was an avid sports fan, starting with the Washington Huskies, Seattle Sea Hawks, Seattle Mariners, and Nascar Racing. At home he was the Internet Guru.  He designed his room with Top-Notch Computer Equipment, so he could play games, talk with friends, and explore the world.  J. R’s. smile, personality, perseverance would make a lasting impression on each and every one he met.  This  made for many friendships and memories over the years. He with his family loved to travel, enjoying all the sights and sounds of the Pacific Northwest and especially Garibaldi, OR.  At Garibaldi, J.R. would go up and down the dock looking at the boats and watching for seals and other marine life in the ocean.

J.R. is survived by his parents, Jim and Tana Brotherton, and brother Chance Brotherton. His Grandparents, Jim and Rose Nesmith, Jim and Donna Brotherton. Aunts, Trina Garcia (Jamie), Bethany Brotherton (Lee), Uncles Dennis Brotherton, numerous cousins and great aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his cousin, Lily Garcia and numerous great grandparents.

Viewing and Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.  Graveside Service will be on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Outlook Cemetery, Outlook, WA.   Those wishing to sign J.R.’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com  Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
