Jesus Armendariz Gonzalez, 76, of Prosser, WA, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, in the arms of his loving wife.
Jesus was born in Terán, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Jesus and Cecilia Armendariz. He attended Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, where he earned a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1972, he immigrated to the United States, where he made Grandview his home. He married his lifelong companion, Sylvia, and together they began building their family.
Later, Jesus pursued further education at Toppenish Heritage University, obtaining a second master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. He worked at NRO (later renamed Washington State Migrant Council) for over 30 years, eventually serving as Associate Director. He was known for his dedication, never missing a day of work.
Jesus loved to travel, visit family, and spend time at his beloved ranch. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather who was affectionately known as “Compadre Chuy” by his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sylvia; his children: Jesus Armendariz, Dion Allen, Cecilia, David Olvera, Marcelino, Christina Armendariz, Eloy, Esmeralda Armendariz, Toni, and Raul Torres; twenty-two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and siblings Adalia, Amparo, Ernesto, Cecilia, Mario, Rosita Armendariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Cecilia Armendariz, and his sister, Maria Armendariz
