JoAnn Goodnight, 80, a lifetime resident of Bickleton died unexpectedly on January 21st, 2024. JoAnn was born November 28, 1943 in Yakima, WA to Cecil and Aurdey Everrtt. JoAnn spent her early education in Bickleton Where she graduated from Bickleton High School in a class of eight boys and one girl. She went on to attend Cosmetology school in Yakima, WA. Then working for Dorthy Winant, owner of First Lady Beauty Salon in Sunnyside, WA. On September 5th in 1964 she married her high school sweetheart Lawrence Goodnight in Bickleton, WA, where they made their home building a family and farming. She was a member of the Alder Creek Pioneer Carousel Museum, calling themselves the “Patriot Ladies”. She volunteered in many other things in Bickleton as well, including The Bickleton Goodwill ladies. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kesha Goodnight, and her sister in law Margaret Goodnight. Survivors include her husband Lawrence Goodnight, their two Sons, Larry Goodnight/ wife Robin of Bickleton, WA. Kirk Goodnight /wife Diane of West Richland, WA; six grandchildren, Holly Jo Draney /husband Noall of Spokane, WA. Haley Schelin/ husband Casey of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Heather Devore/ husband Cody of Richland, WA. Zachery Goodnight/ wife Jess of Peyton, CO, Emily Goodnight/ fiance Jon Prince of Benton City, WA. and Jacob Goodnight of Richland, WA. She had five great-grandchildren, Dalton Draney, Kaleb and Kayden Schelin, Keisha Devore and Violet Goodnight. With two nieces Robin Howard Clark, Cheyenne Emerson/ husband Michael, with one nephew Jason Howard/ wife Patty and six great nieces and nephews. Along with numerous cousins.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1st from 1-4 pm at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Friday, February 2nd, at the Bickleton Church in Bickleton. Burial will be at the Bickleton I.O.O.F Cemetery, under the direction of Smith Funeral home. Those wishing to honor JoAnn’s memory, may contribute to the Alder Creek Pioneer Carousel Museum or the Bickleton Goodwill Ladies.
