Jose E. Mendez

Our beloved Joe Mendez went to be with the lord on February 5, 2021. He was born in Kenedy, TX on April 15, 1939 to Cruz Escobedo Mendez and Reynaldo Mendez. Joe’s education continued until the 8th grade. He worked in the cotton fields as a young man. In 1964 he moved to Washington State where he was married to Carmen Torres for 29 years until her death in 1986. Joe became a very accomplished car salesman, and he won many top awards in sales. He was also President of the Eagles. Joe’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, shooting his guns, and riding horses. He was always a cowboy at heart. Joe loved all his family and friends very much. He loved being a Grandpa, and each grandchild held a special place in his heart. Joe is survived by his 3 kids, Betty Santana, Joe Mendez Jr, and Robert Mendez. His 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Reynaldo Mendez and Cruz Marez, two sisters – Maria Rodriguez and Oralia Alaniz, two brothers – Monico Marez and Daniel Marez, his wife Carmen Mendez and grandson Michael A. Varela.
