Jose Gonzalez Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jose Ruiz Gonzalez. Jose, of Mabton passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family in Richland. Jose was born on November 22, 1925, in San Miguel California and raised in Allende Coahulalia, Mexico. Jose and his wife of 74 years, Maria Torres Gonzalez, settled in Mabton in 1958 where they raised 5 children Ana, Joe, Felix, Rose Mary, and Tony. Known for his infectious laugh, smile, youthful exuberance, and quiet wisdom, Jose loved his family deeply. He could be found cheering loudly at his grandchildren’s numerous sporting events or spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren with candy and ice cream cones. A truly extraordinary man, Jose was defined by his love of his family and his deep-rooted connection to the land. He nurtured his vegetables with the same care and attention that he gave his family. Jose’s phenomenal work ethic and unwavering dedication to family and friends are truly inspirations to all.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Maria, and children, Ana (Greg) Hurn of Mabton, Joe (Delia) Gonzalez of Richland, Rose Mary (Martin) Cervantes of Mabton, and Tony (Marci) Gonzalez of West Richland. Jose is also survived by nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Jose is proceeded in death by his son Felix and grandson Jose Angel (Joey).
