Jose Alberto “Beto” Leon age 52 of Grandview, WA returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father Tuesday, October 13, 2020 after battling health issues for a long time. Beto was born May 6, 1968 in Fresno, CA the son of Manuel and Isabel (Ochoa) Leon. He was raised in Grandview and graduated with the class of 1986. Immediately after graduating he enlisted in the army to serve and protect the United States of America. He served in desert storm from 1986-1992. Returning as a different person but his fighting spirit and big heart were the same. He was a proud veteran and shared his story to those who would listen.
He was a free spirit, giving freely of himself. The town of Grandview was his favorite spot, his heart spot. He visited every business in Grandview and helped clean many over his lifetime. Beto’s favorite thing to do was to talk and visit. He was always happy to meet new people and could always make you laugh. He loved to joke around in a way that would lift everyone’s spirits. As a senior in high school he was voted class clown.
Beto is survived by his parents, daughter Mykel Cheyen Leon and three grandchildren Isaac, Leticia and Kimori, siblings Peggy (Martinez) Robinson of San Diego, CA., Annie Leon of Riverside, CA., Margie (Rudy) Saenz of Grandview, WA., Manuel Leon Jr. of Phoenix, AZ., Carmen Leon of Grandview, WA., Raul (Uliani) Leon of Grandview, WA., Leticia (Leon) Losoya of Terrace Heights, WA., and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Beto is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Pedro and Petra Ochoa, paternal grandparents Alberto and Ana Martinez, nieces Corina Leon Santos and Angelita Nicole Saenz.
He will be greatly missed by everyone. The family would like to express their appreciation to the community for their love and support we have been receiving. Now Beto can finally make one of his best friends Domingo Ramirez laugh again but this time in heaven.
Viewing and visitation will be held Monday, October 19, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Grandview, WA. A Graveside service with Military Honors will be Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Grandview Cemetery in Grandview, WA.
