Josefa Perez (affectionately known as Josie or Chepa) of Grandview, WA, went peacefully to be with her Lord on January 24, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 27 1947, in La Villa, Texas, and was raised by her mother, Maria Del Jesus and Cayetano Quintero. In 1957, the family moved to Washington State where they made their permanent home. Josie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roberto (Golla Serrata). She is survived by her husband, Alfonso Jose Perez, their four children; Julia (Henry) Valerio-Perez; Joe G. Perez; Jim (Angie) Perez, and; Wally Perez. Survivors include one brother, Ramiro (Lynni) and three sisters; Raquel (Jose), Genia (Juan) and Maggie (Jose). She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. In addition, Josie had a large extended family, mostly consisting of several in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1963, she married Alfonso Jose Perez. They made their home in Grandview and were married for 57 years. Together, they enjoyed taking various trips, mostly to visit family and friends. Josie liked to garden and took a great deal of pride in the variety of flowers she nurtured each year from seed to bouquet. She was always the doting grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent countless hours entertaining them in her home and interacting with them through games and music, often singing to them and dancing with them.
In lieu of flowers, it has been requested that donations be made to St. Jude and/or Yakima Gospel Mission.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, WA with inurnment to follow at Grandview Cemetery, Grandview, WA.
