Juan Castro Sr, 68 years old of Granger, WA passed away peacefully at home in Richland, WA surrounded by his family on November 5th, 2023. Juan was born on August 30th, 1955, in Weslaco, Texas to Enrique and Leonor V. Castro.
Juan attended Granger Schools and graduated in 1975. During his time there he met his elementary school sweetheart Cecelia Villanueva. Together they were members of MECHA and danced El Jarabe Tapatio for several events.
They were married in Granger, WA on June 19th, 1976. Juan and Cecelia have three children. Juan Castro Jr., Jessica and Joel. He loved spending time with his family, dancing with his wife, building things for his family and friends.
Juan was a hard worker from the time he was 12 years old working in the fields with his parents and siblings. He learned the trade of upholstery in high school and worked at Trail Wagons for a couple of years. He then attended the Union Hall 770 to learn the skill of carpentry. He worked on several construction jobs around the valley, including the I82 bridges over Grandview, WA and the Sunnyside High School. He would then go on to own his own Construction Business, JC’s Construction.
Juan loved to spend time with his 7 grandkids, they would go outside with him and watch as he built signs. Sometimes sanding the parts for him.
Juan always helped anyone that needed it. Especially his family. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
Juan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cecelia. His children, Juan Castro Jr., Jessica (Wade) Whitman, Joel (Cindy) Castro. 7 grandchildren, Ori, Jeslynd, Mia, Emi, Bianca, Nate, Adin. His brother Guadalupe (Maria) Castro and sister Leonor (Jose) Cardenas. And several nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Enrique and Leonor V. Castro, and 6 brothers, Vicente, Enrique, Elias, Esteban, Ramiro and Jose Angel Castro.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Granger, WA with burial to follow at the Zillah Cemetery.
