Klaus Arno Alter

Klaus Arno Alter, age 74, went to be in the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 21, 2023.  Klaus was born on June 29, 1949 in Mannheim, Germany the son of Arno and Elfriede Ella (Assmann) Alter.   In 1958 Klaus with his family came to the United States and settled in Prosser, WA.  Klaus graduated from Prosser High School with the Class of 1969.  Following graduation, he was employed by various farmers in the valley, until his long   employment of thirty plus years with Lamb Weston, retiring in 2016.   He learned many skills from his father and was considered a jack of all trades.  In his spare time Klaus enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just spending time in the great outdoors.  

Klaus is survived by children Autumn Pease (Jason), Ryan Hogan (Rebecca) and Sarah Hogan, all of Kennewick, WA. Brother Bob Alter (Sue) of Prosser, WA.  Grandchildren, Ashlynn and Carter Pease, Rylan Hogan, Dylan Ralston, Hayden and Alyssa Estrada. He is also survived by one niece and one nephew.  Klaus is preceded in death by his parents Arno and Elfriede Alter, a daughter Brandy Alter. 

Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to the time of the Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Prosser, WA.  Burial will follow at the East Prosser Cemetery.  Those wishing to sign Klaus’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com   Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
