LaVelda Mae Barrett left us to join her Lord in Heaven on August 2, 2023. She was 88 years old and was proceeded in death by her husband; Lonnie Paul Barrett, her mother Charlene Slavens, and her father John Slavens. LaVelda was born on July 27, 1935 in Powell, Wyoming. In her spare time, she loved fishing with her husband Lonnie, enjoying the outdoors, and attending her children and grandchildren’s athletic events. She worked as an office secretary, as a Tupperware Lady and spent many years serving others at the Crisis Pregnancy Center in the Lower Valley. She loved her church family, Pastor Bob Widman, his wife Connie Widman, and their children. LaVelda leaves behind her daughter Michelle Dixon, son in law Robert Dixon, and their children Hunter Dixon and Montana Dixon. Lavelda’s son Larry Slavens, daughter in law Bonita Slavens, and their children John Slavens, David Slavens, and James Slavens. And her daughter Marcella Stubbs and her children Dondalea Stubbs and Manuel Stubbs Jr.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Graveside service will be on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:00 at the Lower Valley Memorial Garden, Sunnyside WA with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Cornerstone Assembly of God in Sunnyside, WA.
