Lawana Larson

Lawana Larson was called home to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on January 21, 2019.

Lawana was born August 10, 1932 to Thora A. and William H. Schreven in Ogden, Utah.  She came to Prosser with her parents and family when her father took a job as a linotype operator at the Prosser Record Bulletin.  Here she met her future husband, Paul E. Larson, and married him on July 3, 1952.  They made their home in Prosser where they raised their four children.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Lawana worked as a sales clerk at Schmidt’s Variety, Elfers-Lyon Pharmacy, Sehnert’s Bakery and as a meat wrapper at Evan’s Thrift grocery store. 

She was a member of the Prosser Art Association and a volunteer counselor at the Lower Valley Crises Pregnancy Center.  She was also a volunteer caregiver for Hospice.  She loved oil and watercolor painting, creative sewing, quilting, crochet work, counted cross-stitch and reading. 

Lawana’s joys in life were her family and friends, and to love, encourage and help those God brought into her life. 

Lawana leaves for now her surviving children, Paul E. Larson, Jr. and his wife Sue of Rochester, Minnesota, Ronald E. Larson and his wife Lisa of Kent, Washington and Joyce R. Larson of Duvall, Washington as well as six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five nieces and eight nephews.  She is also survived by brothers and sister, W.H. (Bill) Schreven and wife Mary, Noel Schreven and wife Cyndi, Clifford Schreven and wife Jane and Barbara Ingersoll.  Her husband, Paul E. Larson, son Dennis W. Larson, parents, William and Thora Schreven and brother Kelly Schreven, preceded her in death.

She will be deeply missed till we are all together again with the Lord Jesus Christ.

A funeral service will be held at Grandview Nazarene Church at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2019, with a reception following.  Please bring your favorite scripture or memory to share.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Yakima Union Gospel Mission.  Those wishing to sign Lawana’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com.  Smith Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
