Lillian Marie Bryant Obituary

Lillian Marie Bryant, 96, died August 14, 2024 at her home in Sunnyside, Washington.

Born and raised in Granger, WA, she called the lower Yakima Valley home her entire life. She and her husband, Bryde, raised four children, and over the years the family she loved grew to include 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Lillian was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was lovingly referred to as Granny B. Family was the most important thing to Lillian, and she was always eager for any family gathering. She made every Christmas and birthday special. She was a familiar face in the community for years as a grocery clerk at several stores in Sunnyside, retiring from Food Depot in 1994. For many years, she joined her ‘Coffee Bunch’ early each morning, and she thoroughly enjoyed the company of her group.

Lillian’s many interests included reading, gardening, birdwatching, crafting and crocheting. She made numerous afghans over the years and completed many holiday projects that will be treasured by her family. Lillian loved to travel and was always ready for a new adventure. She and Bryde traveled to Panama and made several trips to Hawaii, and she returned to Hawaii numerous times with her son and daughter-in-law. Her travels also took her to Alaska once on a road trip and again on a cruise. At 85, she rode a mule on the rim of the Grand Canyon, and then, at 90, she went whale watching in Hawaii on a Zodiac boat.

Lillian is survived by her son Charlie (Jan), daughters Janet (Bud) Mount, Gayle Schimpf and Patrice (Kim) Strieck; grandchildren Mark Mount, Chris (Charlene) Mount, Kevin (Michelle) Mount, Elissa (Carlos) Romero, Jacob (Sabrina) Strieck, Dustin (Marlena) Strieck and Brandon (Rachel) James; and great-grandchildren Ryan, Lexi, Kayden, Abigail, Isabelle, Jasmine, Jenna, Carissa, Andrew, Owen, Emma and Mason.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bryde and son-in-law Jerry Schimpf. Also, preceding her in death were her companion Ray Brack; sister Bernadine Wiechelman; brothers Ben, Ray and Bill Green; and Bryde’s brothers and sisters.

The family suggests donations be made to Heartlinks Hospice and Palliative Care, Grandview, WA. A private family inurnment will be held at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.
