Linville McBride, age 85, went to be in the arms of his loving Savior on Saturday, November 25, 2023, surround by his family. He was born on January 27, 1938, in Yakima, WA the son of Lorland and Velma (Chastain) McBride. Linville graduated from Sunnyside High School with the Class of 1956. He received a B.A. in elementary education, master’s in education, both from Central Washington University. On December 1, 1960, he married the love of his life Mary Jane Groseth in Yakima, WA. Linville was an elementary school teacher for Sunnyside School District, teaching at Lincoln and Chief Kamiakin Schools for 27 years. He also enjoyed farming. Linville served in the United States Navy from 1956-1959 serving in Kodiak Alaska. In his spare time Linville interests were Ham Radio operator, farming, cattle, reading, especially history and science fiction, and community service. He was lifetime member of the Sunnyside Free Methodist Church and later attended the Grandview Nazarene. He also was a member of the Sunnyside Lion’s Club and Gideon’s International Bible Society.
Linville is survived by his wife, Mary Jane McBride of Sunnyside, WA. Daughter, Kristi McBride of Sunnyside, WA and son Michael McBride of Richland, WA. One brother, Larry D. McBride of Montana. He is preceded in death by his parents. Lorland and Velma McBride and one brother Virgil Spratt. In lieu of flowers those wishing to honor Linville’s memory may contribute to the Yakima Union Gospel Mission.
Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA. A celebration of life will be announced at a later time.
