Lonnie Laughlin Obituary

Lonnie Jack Laughlin (54) of Granger, WA passed away Monday, October 7, 2019 in Sunnyside, WA. Lonnie was born August 23, 1965 in Torrance, CA the son of Lee and LaVerne (Gale) Laughlin. At the age of four he and his family made their way to the Yakima Valley.

As a young boy his favorite book was “Andrew Henry’s Meadow” about adventures in building, a theme that blossomed into an ongoing passion to build or repair almost anything or everything. His most humorous project was trapping his brother.

Lonnie attended the Sunnyside Christian School, and then graduated from Granger High School. Next he went to Dordt College and last selected J.M. Perry Institute for “Instrumentation and Industrial Electronics”. His vocational choice proved to be something that he both excelled at and found rewarding.

Lonnie grew up with a love of nature and spent many happy times camping or horseback riding the back country of the Cascades with family and friends. He also enjoyed water and snow skiing, rafting, scuba diving, fishing and all types of off-road vehicles.

Lonnie dearly loved animals, but particularly dogs and horses, and this love was certainly returned in full measure.

He shared many adventures with his two greatest friends, Steve Roskamp and Rodney Ompta. These wonderful friendships began in first grade at Sunnyside Christian School and continued through travels, activities, moves and the ups-and-downs of life.

Lonnie had so many plans for his farm, plans that tragically were not realized when he was unexpectedly called to his heavenly home. We grieve deeply at our temporary loss.

Lonnie is survived by his parents Lee “Pops” and LaVerne “Mom-Vern”, brother, Clinton Lee Laughlin “Bro” of Seaside, OR.

Bob “Uncle Bob” and Regina “Auntie Genee” (Funk) Williams and their precious daughter Gena (Williams) Hall.
