Lorenzo "Lencho" Gomez Obituary

Lorenzo “Lencho” Gomez, 50, former Mabton resident passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 in Wenatchee, WA. Lencho was born on September 26, 1969 in Prosser, WA the son of Nellie (Hernandez) and Jose Angel Gomez. He received his education in Mabton, earned his GED and later went to Green River College (Auto Body) Auburn, WA. Lencho met Theresa Portillo in Lynden, WA where they lived and raised two children, Jose Angel Gomez and Christina Gomez. On September 27, 2010 he met the love of his life Juana A. Garcia in Mabton, WA and they were planning a life together. Lencho worked at ACME Farms for several years and did various jobs in the Yakima Valley and Seattle, WA area throughout his working career. Lencho enjoyed listening to heavy metal music and was a roommate of Mike Starr of the Alice in Chains Band. He also loved going to concerts, camping, watching the Sea Hawks and spending time with his five grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Lencho had many friends and was loved by all.

Lencho is survived by two children, Jose Angel Gomez  and Christina Gomez both of Bellingham, WA. Five grandchildren, four brothers Roger Gomez, Yakima, WA; Robert DeLeon of Ontario, OR, Joe DeLeon (Glenna) and Carlos DeLeon (Juana) all of Nyssa, OR. Four sisters Dorothy Torres (Marcelino) of Sunnyside, WA, Sylvia Gomez (Donna) Gomez, Rosemary Castaneda (Tim) all of Yakima, WA and Lupe Salazar (Larry) of Granger, WA. He is also survived by his best friend Henry Carranza. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and Jose Gomez, three brothers Lloyd DeLeon, Leonard DeLeon and Joe Gomez, nephews Frank Rodriguez and Joe Paul DeLeon.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, June 19th, 2020 from 3:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA.
