April 22, 1948 – October 23, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved Lucia “Lucy” Ayala, who left this world peacefully on October 23, 2025, surrounded by her family’s love and prayers.
Born in Yucatán, Mexico, on April 22, 1948, Lucy lived a life filled with grace, faith, and devotion to those she loved. She was known for her kind heart, gentle smile, and the warmth she shared so freely with everyone around her. Lucy’s strength, compassion, and unwavering love were the heart of her family and the foundation upon which so many found comfort and joy.
Lucy loved to cook for everyone — her kitchen was a place of laughter, comfort, and delicious meals that brought people together. She also found great joy in gardening, tending lovingly to her flowers and plants, which, like her, made the world more beautiful.
Her life was a reflection of faith and selflessness — always giving, always caring, and always believing in the goodness of others. Lucy’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so generously.
Lucy is survived by her devoted husband Lucas, her loving children Beverly (David), Alejandro (Ana), Jesus/Jessie and Sandy (Keith), as well as her six cherished grandchildren — Yajaira, Oliver, Lucy, Niicie, Henry, and Xander — who brought her endless joy and pride. She will also be remembered with love by extended family and dear friends who were blessed to know her.
A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Mass honoring Lucia “Lucy” Ayala on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Grandview. Together we will gather to remember her beautiful spirit, her laughter, and the love she shared with all. Those wishing to sign Lucia’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com
Though we grieve her loss deeply, we find peace knowing that Lucy is now at rest in the presence of God, reunited with loved ones who went before her. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts, and her love will continue to guide us every day.
“May the angels lead you into paradise; may the martyrs receive you at your coming and take you to the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem.”
