Luis Valenzuela Jr, age 87 of Granger, WA passed away Thursday July 16, 2026 in Spokane WA. Luis was born October 27, 1938 in Kenedy, Texas the son of Luis and Cruz Valenzuela. Soon after he was born the family moved to Elsa, Texas a small town in the Rio Grande Valley. Luis attended school in Hargill, Tx for 3-4 years. As he grew older he had to skip school to help his dad support their growing family. Soon it was just work and no school. He did not mind as he did not like school anyway. Luis was drafted into the Army and spent 18 months in Germany. After he was discharged from the military, he worked for Boeing in the Seattle Renton area off and on for over 17 years. While working for Boeing he met Fern Perin; they married in 1968, had no children and divorced 5 years after. In 1972 the VA sent Luis to school for Respiratory Therapy, after 6 months he started working at Virginia Mason Hospital where he worked for 8 years. Sometime during he met Melva Ford whom Birthed his first daughter Carmelita Valenzuela born November 5, 1975. Shortly after he met Louise Getty who carried his second child Corina Valenzuela born October 20, 1976. In the Early 80’s he met Teresa Hagstorm who he had two more children with Luis Valenzuela III born December 8, 1982 and Justina Valenzuela born April 29, 1984. Luis is preceded in death by both parents, his two brothers Mauro Valenzuela, Valdemero Valenzuela and his sister Melida Luna. Luis is survived by his three sisters Alicia Ramirez, Natividad Guajardo, Janie Cruz and his Brother Valdemar Valenzuela. He was a devoted grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Luis lived his best life Hunting. Watching the Mariners and Seahawks play. He enjoyed going to the Casino, winning and sharing his wins with his family. He was known for his good luck. He was an easy going simple man who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. 

Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.   Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA   Burial will follow with Military Honors at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA   Those wishing to sign Luis online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com
