Margaret Jane Palomarez, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, after a fierce battle against an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her four devoted children.
Margaret was born on June 17, 1952, in Mabton, WA, to David Palomarez and Maria Del Rio. She was the 8th of 13 children and was a woman of many names: Margie, Maga, Magaloo, Magoo, Maggie, Magz—but to us, she was Mom.
For many years, Mom worked in agriculture with her family. She settled down in Sunnyside, WA and started a family of her own. Never one to shy away from hard work, she was also a valued employee at Independence Food Processing Plant and Payless ShoeSource, dabbled in selling Home Interior, and Avon, and ultimately retired from Twin City Foods. When she wasn’t earning a living to provide for her family, Mom enjoyed gardening, crafting, and crocheting, often making baby blankets or her famous Renuzit dolls with her loving hands. Mom loved to dance to her oldies, classic country, and Spanish music. She’d play it loud and wake us up when it was time to clean house. Mom also loved spending time with her family and friends and always took the time to make those she loved feel special. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brought a smile to her heart, as did attending church and praying the rosary for her loved ones.
She is survived by her four children, Patty Teddleton (Todd), Chris Arteaga (Rana), Diego Arteaga (Jenny), and Bellicia Hernandez. She is also survived by her grandchildren Benjamin, Albert (Stephanie), Kamryn, Isaiah, Emma, Kimberly, Cash, Diego, and Lily; great-grandchildren, Manuel, Brooklyn, Cruz, August, and Jorge; brothers Wally Palomarez, Nick Palomarez, Ruben Palomarez, and sister Nora Schultz, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished with her whole heart. Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, David and Maria, her brothers John Palomarez, Manuel Palomarez, David Palomarez, Tony Palomarez, Roy Palomarez, and Rudy Palomarez, and sisters Suzie Palomarez and Caroline Rivas.
Mom didn’t believe in goodbye. “Not goodbye! See you later, or see you soon”, she would say. See you later, Mom.
