María R. “Cuca” Gutiérrez, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on October 16, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born in 1937 in Jalisco, Mexico, where she spent her early years surrounded by faith, family, and the rich traditions of her homeland.
Known affectionately as “Cuca” by her friends and family, she was admired for her warm heart, caring spirit, and deep devotion to her loved ones. A proud and devoted Catholic, Cuca prayed the Rosary daily, offering prayers for her family, friends, and all those in need. Her faith guided every step of her life, and her kindness and generosity extended beyond her home—she gave her time and support to several community and charitable organizations.
Cuca found great joy in her garden, lovingly tending to her flowers and lawn, often accompanied by her faithful dog, Negra, who was always by her side. She took pride in keeping her surroundings beautiful, reflecting the care and dedication she showed in every part of her life. Her family and friends will always remember her laughter, her gentle wisdom, and the peace she brought to those around her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, María de Jesús Luna and Vidal de la Mora, and by her brothers José and Rafael.
Cuca is survived by her loving children: Anna (José), Ramón (Claudia), Salvador (Olga), and Verónica (Rogelio); her brothers Moisés, Agustín, and Ignacio; as well as many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her loved ones and resting in God’s eternal embrace.
May her soul rest in peace.
