Marie Duim Obituary

Marie Elizabeth Duim (Bogert) passed into eternal life on September 2, 2025. Marie was born in Sunnyside, Washington on November 22, 1934 to Herbert and Woutera Bogert. She was a graduate of the first eighth grade class of Sunnyside Christian School. She also graduated from Sunnyside High School. On April 14, 1955 she married Garrett William Duim. They had five children, the first being Ronald David Duim, who passed away in infancy. Marie and Garrett established a farm and raised a family northeast of Granger. Marie loved growing flowers and was an avid ornamental gardener throughout her whole life. She was a wonderful mother who taught her children principles of faith and charity, in particular. She was a life-long member of the Christian Reformed Church in which, for many years, she was an ardent prayer warrior. She also ministered to her church community with innumerable cards and visits. She played piano by ear and shared her musical talents by playing beautiful arrangements of hymns on the piano.

She is survived by her son Gary and Marion Habermahl of Peterborough, Ontario; daughter Brenda and Daryl DeVries of Yakima; her son Terry and Marcine of Outlook; and her son Mike of Zillah; her grandchildren Gared, Rowan; Derek (Kimberly), Brandon (Jeniffer), Tim (Anna); Cyrus, Thalia; Makaela (Ethan), Connor, Morgan, and Carson. Marie was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Garrett, her infant son Ronald, and her 6 siblings: Pete, Wilma, Morris, Hank, Walt, and Jeanette.

Memorials may be made to Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church, Sunnyside Christian School, or the charity of your choice.
