Martin Mungia Obituary

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend Martin C. Mungia, went to be in the arms of his Heavenly Father on Friday December 27, 2024 at the age of 86. Martin was born on November 12, 1937 in Nuevo León, Mexico. He is the son of Cosme and Delfina (Casanova) Mungia. Martin received his education in Texas. On December 28, 1959 he married the love of his life, Estella Moya in Edinburg, TX. The Mungia Family moved to Sunnyside, WA in 1993. Martin worked for various farmers in the Yakima Valley during his working career. He was also a faithful member of the evangelical church La Cosecha in Sunnyside, WA. Martin loved to work in his yard and garden, but most of all he cherished his relationship with his Lord and Savior and spending time with his family.

Martin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Estella Mungia, one son Martin Mungia Jr. both of Sunnyside, WA. He is also survived by two grandchildren Clarisa Mungia and Jdren Mungia, one great-grandchild, Janiya Yanez and brother Jose Mungia. He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Joshua “Nate” Mungia, and sister Irene Ozuna.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday January 2, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA.  Funeral service will be held on Friday January 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Sunnyside, WA. Burial will follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens Sunnyside, WA.
