Mary H. Cardenas age 87 our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday January 23rd, 2024 where she was surrounded by her children.
Mary was born on January 31st, 1936 in Dallas, Texas the daughter of Jose Ortega & Carmen (Guzman) Ortega.
On August 8th 1951, Mary married the love of her life Jose Cardenas in Sunnyside Washington.
Mary retired from Twin City Foods. She loved to spend time with her family, eating her favorite desserts, shopping, cooking, dancing and traveling to California & Texas in her younger days with her husband Jose.
Our mother had a great personality and a sense of humor putting smiles on faces of those who she interacted with.
She will forever hold a special place in all of her families hearts.
She is survived by her children Syl Cardenas Escobar of Grandview, Wa. Sally Halbrook & husband Dave of Seattle, Wa. Joe Jr. Cardenas & wife Mary of Sunnyside, Wa. David Cardenas & wife Terrie of Grandview, Wa. Yolanda Sotelo & husband Robert of Sunnyside, Wa. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren & 6 great great grandchildren. One brother Joe Ortega & wife Mary of Chino Ca, three sisters Lydia Hernandez of Dallas, Tx. Mary Lou Orozco of California & Lupe Ortiz of Dallas, Tx.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Jose Cardenas, parents Jose & Carmen Ortega, daughter Sandy Rodriguez & sister Vikki Ayala.
You will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you for your love, guidance & advice given to all. You will be forever in our hearts.
Viewing and Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, Washington. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sunnyside, WA. Burial will follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA.
