Mary Gonzalez Obituary

On March 16, 2025, Mary O. Gonzalez walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior and heaven gained an angel.

Mary was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas in 1937.  She lived in Carrizo Springs and in Denver City, Texas for a large part of her life before moving to Sunnyside Washington with Tomas D. Gonzalez and their children in the 1970s. She worked at Hillcrest Manor as a nurse’s aid and worked in private caregiving before going into farm labor and then taking care of the home they lived in.

Having lived for 87 years, Mary had many stories of her adventures to share. She would talk about people she had met and experiences that she had had. But the conversation always came back to one thing. The thing she talked about the most was her faith in Christ.

Mary devoted her life to following Christ and embraced his teachings with heartfelt passion. Throughout her life, her faith was the foundation of everything she did. This unwavering faith sustained her through life’s challenges and gave her strength to live a life filled with grace. She was a woman of constant prayer, always lifting up those in need and offering guidance and support to all who sought it.

Mary loved to sing and worship and cherished the fellowship with her church family at the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church which was Mary’s church home for more than 18 years.  The radio at home always had Christian programs on and she swore that even her birds liked the programming.

Mary’s family, friends, and community will remember her for her prayers, her actions, and her love that touched so many lives.  They will remember her as their adopted mom, aunt and grandmother.

Mary’s legacy will endure in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her and in her surviving children Martin (Gloria) Enriquez, Ruben Enriquez, Consuelo Mendoza, Deborah Duran, Tommy (Elizabeth) Gonzalez, Laura Ramirez, Cruz (Guillermo Jr) Garcia, 28 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Prosser Memorial Hospital and the Heartlinks Hospice & Palliative Care Program. We would also like to give a special Thank You to Rene Ayala who was Mary’s caregiver for the last 4 years.
