Our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend Michael Roger Boob, 58, gained his angel wings on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at his home in Prosser with his beloved wife, Sherri and daughter, Marissa by his side. Mike was born on September 9, 1966 in Prosser, WA to Michael Paul Boob and Delora Marie (Punch) Boob. Mike received his education in Prosser, WA and graduated with the Class of 1985. Following graduation, Mike attended Yakima Valley College and earned his AA Degree in auto mechanics.
On October 24, 1992, Mike married the love of his life and best friend Sherri Van Horn in Sunnyside WA. They would have celebrated 33 years of marriage in October.
Mike had a very active life. In his college years, he was a volunteer fire fighter for the Fruitvale Fire Department (Yakima). In 1988, Mike started his dream career in the farm equipment parts field, working for various farm equipment companies throughout the valley. Mike worked for Barnett Implement for 14 years, then moved on to Valley Ag, Ford New Holland, RDO John Deere for 14 years, and then in 2021, he started the job of his life at Pape Machinery till the time of his death. Mike was well known and sought out throughout the valley, from Mattawa to the Horse Heaven Hills as the farmer’s go to guy for all things related to farm equipment parts but his specialty and love was with John Deere farm equipment. This earned Mike the nickname Mr. John Deere. Mike was also a member of the Ye Olde Car Club and the Sundown Car Club. Mike’s enjoyment in life was to collect and restore antique cars and his John Deere tractors, sharing his passion with the love of his life Sherri, his amazing daughter Marissa and his precious grandkids Gary Michael Lane and Velma Rose.
Mike is survived by the love of his life, his wife Sherri, their daughter Marissa Boob and his grandchildren Gary Michael Lane and Velma Rose who were his whole world. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Gayle Krumsick and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lori and Jerry Harris, along with several aunts and uncles, and cousins. His is preceded in death by his parents Mike and Delora Boob, his grandparents, his uncle Leroy and his father-in-law Russell Krumsick.
The viewing and visitation will be held on Friday July 18, 2025 from 3pm to 8pm at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA. Funeral services will be on Saturday July 19, 2025 at 2pm at the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church in Sunnyside, WA, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Prosser Fire Department (1200 Grant Ave, Prosser, WA 99350) or the Bickleton Museum (PO Box 116, Bickleton, WA 99322).
