Olga Maria Medelez

Olga Maria Medelez, 79, of Sunnyside, WA passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She is the daughter of Bernardo & Maria Olvera born in Yakima, WA, on June 22, 1946 Olga’s life was a beautiful journey filled with love, hard work, and devotion.

For many years, Olga worked as a dedicated agricultural laborer, contributing to the community through her tireless efforts in the fields. Later, she followed her nurturing spirit and became a beloved childcare provider, offering kindness, patience, and care to countless children.

A loving wife to Noe Medelez Sr. and proud mother of eight children, Noe Medelez jr (Norma), Julie Ruiz (Javier Ruiz), Robert Medelez, Olga Medelez jr, Manuel Medelez (Ilda), Nola Medelez, Sue Medelez, Bobbie Medelez and Stepson, Jerry Reyes (Priscilla).

Olga’s heart was fullest when surrounded by her family. She cherished her 23 grandchildren 22 great grandchildren deeply, finding endless joy in their laughter and growth.

Olga’s kitchen was the heart of the home, where her famous tamales and pasta salads brought everyone together, creating lasting memories over shared meals and stories. Her warmth, generosity, and strength left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She will be remembered not just for her work and cooking but for the love she poured into every moment with her family and friends.

She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Noe Medelez Sr, her parents Bernardo & Maria Olvera.  Her grandson Damien Amaro, her siblings Mary Helen Resendez (Vicente), Gracie Medina (Rito), Rebecca Medina (Santos) Guadalupe (Pio) Olvera.

Olga’s spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

Viewing and visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025 with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6p.m.  Funeral service will be Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11:00a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, Washington with a graveside service to follow at the Lower Valley Memorial gardens Cemetery, in Sunnyside, Washington. Those wishing to sign Olga's online memorial guest book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com   Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
