Otilio V. Sanchez (Chicho), age 70, longtime Toppenish, WA and former Mabton, WA resident passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 in Toppenish, WA. He was born on November 18, 1949 in Edinburg, TX the son of Geronimo Sanchez and Felicita (Vasquez) Sanchez. Otilio received his education in Texas. He worked at Hanford and for various construction companies throughout the Yakima Valley. Otilio enjoyed listening to Tejano Music especially El Conjunto Bernal and Los Chachos but, was very well known for his dancing. He also spent time fishing and loved family gatherings. Otilio was a member of the Toppenish Eagles and attended the Toppenish Catholic Church.
He is survived by two sons, Jesse Sanchez (Marcy) of Sunnyside, WA and Jose Sanchez (Lala) of Mabton, WA. Otilio is also survived by his Ex-wife Gloria Sanchez of Mabton, WA 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren 3 Brothers Guadalupe Sanchez of Granger, WA Oliel Sanchez of Toppenish, WA and Arturo Hernandez of Hermiston, OR and 5 sisters, Ofelia Herrera of Toppenish, WA Olga Garcia of Edinburg, Texas Odilia Rodriguez of Grandview, WA Olivia Leos of Toppenish, WA and Juana Medelez of Toppenish, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Geronimo & Felicita Sanchez, sisters Otila Saldana of San Carlos, Texas Hortencia Hernandez of Grandview, WA Oralia Sanchez (Lala) of Toppenish, WA and Brother Ofimio Sanchez of Mabton, WA and one grandson, Jesse Sanchez of Toppenish, WA.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA with burial to follow at the Zillah Cemetery.
