Pastor Francisco "Pancho" Macias Obituary

Pastor Francisco “Pancho” Macias, 79, was welcomed into eternity on July 9, 2020 by his Heavenly Father. Pancho was born on October 10, 1940 in Monterrey, Mexico he son of Aurelia (Ramirez) and Gregorio Macias. He received his education in Mexico. On November 2, 1962, he married the love of his life, Julia Cienfuegos in Mexico. In 1958 in Mexico, Pancho was a professional wrestler for 14 years and was known as “Caris la momia” (the mummy).  The Macias’s family migrated to California, Arizona, Texas and Washington until settling in Sunnyside in the late 1960’s.  They later moved to Toppenish before making their home in Granger in 1980. Pancho’s worked for various farmers throughout the Yakima Valley including Newhouse Farms, Clayton Farms and Carpenter Farms.  Each year the Macias Family would return to Mexico in December to visit family and friends. Any birthday, holiday or any other family gathering Pancho would delight his family with delicious food especially gorditas de azucar.  He enjoyed watching Los Tigres de San Nicolas de los Garzas. On January 18, 1980  Pastor Enrique Guillen of the Samaritan Church in Toppenish, was given the privilege to witness  the entire Macias Family accepting Jesus Christ as their personal savior. This led Pancho to begin his ministry in 1994, first in Granger Fortaleza De Sion and later in Sunnyside  Iglesia de Santidad Pentecostes Fortaleza De Sion.

Pancho is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Julia Macias of Granger, WA.  Children Julia Perez (Horacio) of Sunnyside, WA, Irene Ledesma (Manuel) of Granger, WA, Frank Macias (Maribel) of Grandview, WA and Reina Resendez  (Gerardo) of Granger, WA. He is also survived by Nineteen grandchildren; Survived by 19 grandchildren; Melissa (Daniil), Melanie, Michael, Adam, Monique, Melinda, Mayra, Israel, Samuel (Jessica), Judit, Manuel Jr, Matthew, Malachi, Jonah (Lizbeth), Absalom (Maria), Saul, Kayla (Ramiro), Caleb (Alicia), Joshua. Thirteen great grandchildren; Samuel, Noah, Nehemiah, Alyssa, Luke, Aydah, Judah, Evany, Avery, Emery, Brielle, Alayna, Kailani all that he loved and adored with all his heart and cherished their company.  Siblings, Javier, Rodolfo, Manuel, Ricardo, Juan, Esther, Juany, Concha, Ramiro and numerous nephews and nieces that he loved so much.   He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Samuel Horacio Perez.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.  Private family services will be held with burial at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA.   Those wishing to sign Pancho’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com   Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
