Ramon U. Gonzalez, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, surrounded by the comfort and care of his wife and daughter. He was born on May 17, 1942, in Santa Cruz, Texas, to Jose and Juanita Gonzalez.
Ramon migrated from California with his family following agricultural work. He later began working for Nading Farms for 25 years (1991-2016), and other farms such as Bud and Helen Stout of Sunnyside. Up until his final days Ramon loved reminiscing about the silage corn fields, he had worked in. Ramon lived a happy, fruitful, and fulfilling life. He loved traveling to California to visit his family and making memories. He enjoyed BBQ's with his brothers and nephews, taking spontaneous day cruises in the countryside, watching his favorite football team "Seahawks" and spending time in his garden. Ramon was a man with many stories-funny stories; always made a person laugh with his jokes. Ramon touched the lives of many with his profound sense of humor, warmth and charismatic nature, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria Marta Gonzalez, daughter Sheila (Javier) of Sunnyside, 3 grandchildren: Ricardo (Gabriela), Amelia, Nikita (Angel) all of Sunnyside, 12 great-grandchildren, brother Encarnacion "Chon" of Sunnyside and 4 sisters: Paula, Juanita, Maria, Zulema, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son Israel Gonzalez, father and mother Jose & Juanita Gonzalez, brothers: Jose, Rafael, Lupe, and Filberto and sisters: Valeria, Lupita, and Susie.
Family, friends and others whose life Ramon touched are invited to the Smith Funeral Home located at 528 S. 8th St. in Sunnyside. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with an evening service at 5:00 pm and recitation of the rosary at 6:00pm.
Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 am at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Burial will follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA.
