Raquel Ybarra Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Raquel Q. Ybarra went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday, June 11, 2018, surround by her loving family.  Raquel was born on June 25, 1944, in San Jose de la Paz, Jalisco, Mexico, the daughter of Josefina (Mata) and Leopoldo Quezada.  Raquel received her education in Mexico.  On November 26, 1967, she married the love of her life, Ambrosio Ybarra in Degollado, Jalisco, Mexico.  Raquel became an instant mother to his four children and they together had four daughters.  She was a stay at home mom, day care provider, master seamstress and later worked for Yakima Bait in Granger for more than twenty years. Raquel was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger, WA.  In her spare time Raquel enjoyed working in her garden, cooking, crocheting, walking with her best friend Angie Sanchez, volunteering at the Granger Food Bank, and most of all cherished time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Katy Ybarra (Joe Salinas), Elizabeth “Lisa” Espinoza (David), Beverly Splawn (Bill), and Albert Ybarra all of Yakima, WA; Nancy Dahlberg (Jason), Rick Ybarra, and Mary Byers (Mitch), all of Seattle, WA; and Ambrose Ybarra (Janice) of Mountlake Terrace, WA; fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandsons.  Siblings Hector Quezada (Socorro), Gloria Quezada Mata (Ramiro), Olga Quezada Mata (Jesus), Celia Quezada (Juvencio), Lucila Quezada (Juan) and Abelardo Quezada Mata, all of Mexico, and Carolina Bravo (Javier) of Norfolk, Virginia.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Josefina Mata and Leopoldo Quezada, and beloved husband, Ambrosio Ybarra.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger, with burial to follow at the Zillah Cemetery.  Those wishing to sign Raquel’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
