Richard Benedict Kernan

Richard (Rick) Kernan, 71, From Mabton WA, died Sunday, May 11th, 2025 after a short battle with brain cancer.  Rick was born in Pasco WA, July 15th, 1953 but lived his life in Mabton.  He was the son of Cyril and Eileen Kernan.  He was educated in the Mabton School District graduating with the class of 1971.  Upon graduating he continued his education at YVC.  Although he worked for many employers, his main employment was with the Mabton School District as a Maintenance/groundskeeper/bus driver.  He retired from the Mabton School District in 2015.  Rick was a volunteer Firefighter for Mabton Fire District 5.

He is preceded in death by his parents Cyril and Eileen Kernan and two brothers, David and Michael all from Mabton as well as his Maternal and Paternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles.  He is survived by his daughter Margaret (Maggie) Waggoner (Vancouver, WA) and sisters Kathy (Don) Talbott (Richland, WA), Patricia (Lori) Kernan (Sunnyside), Shannon (Alberto) Moreno (Kennewick), and Shawn (Mitchel) Bohlinger (Prosser, WA) and one brother Daniel (Kevin) Kernan (Kennewick), many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and good neighbors all of who will miss him terribly.
