Richard L. Guttu, age 77, passed away on December 10, 2025. Rick was born on October 15, 1948, in Seattle, WA to Garfield and Evelyn Guttu.
Rick graduated from Ballard High School in 1966 and attended Shoreline Community College. He worked as a wholesale salesman for Bulder’s Hardware in Ballard Washington for 40+ years.
On a blind date, Rick met the love of his life, Chick Stamschror. Rick and Chick married in August 1995 and made their home in Bellevue. Then in 2021 they moved to Yakima, WA where they built a new home in the Terrace Heights area.
Rick loved old classic cars, particularly Packards from the ‘30s and 1960 era Cadillacs, having owned several of each over the years. While living in the Seattle area, he had been a member of the Packard Club and the Cadillac Club.
Rick was a World War II history enthusiast. He was also known for his sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.
He was a member of St. Paul Cathedral Parish in Yakima.
Rick is survived by his wife, Cecilia J (Chick) Stamschror and Chick’s siblings and their spouses, two nieces, Amber (Hubert) Flaum and Heidi Hubert.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon Hubert.
A public viewing will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 528 S 8th St., Sunnyside, WA on Thursday December 18th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with Rosary at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Cathedral, 15 S. 12th Ave, Yakima, WA on Friday, December 19th at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside. In lieu of flowers those wishing to honor Rick may contribute to the Msgr. Ecker Foundation to support Christ the Teacher Catholic School.
