Robert L. Knight

Robert Lewis Knight was born May 26,1933 and passed away June 25,2024. He was 91 years of age.

Bob was a longtime resident Of Sunnyside, Washington. enjoying his childhood with many lifelong friends.He was very patriotic,loved his country, and was a member of the Army and the Army reserve for many years. He was a very proud member of the American Legion and was honored to volunteer his help in the development of the Veteran's Memorial Plaza.

Dad was a Ford Salesman for over 40 years and had many loyal customers.

He was passionate about working in his yard everyday. He enjoyed golfing, his beloved Dachshund's, watching the Seahawks and The Andy Griffith Show.

He loved having coffee with his family and friends, telling jokes and stories from long ago. Dad made the best homemade ice cream which was a tradition he carried on from his Mother Naomi, making a batch every week for years! He looked forward to our yearly 4th of 

July family barbecue.Rain or shine, Dad loved to take a daily dip in the swimming pool which he always referred to as "The Cement Pond".

Dad was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends, loved to laugh and sing- especially with his Dad and brother Bill.

He loved chocolate cake, biscuits and gravy and He loved Us!

You truly were a Knight in shining armour to us, Dad.

We will hold you in our hearts forever.

Daughter Pam (Rick) Grindrod, their children Melanie Alto,  Amanda (William) Thomas, their children,Jared,Jerimiah, Jaxston and Isaiah. Son Michael Grindrod and his son James. Dana (Kelli) Grindrod their children, Hailey, Bethany, Abby and Isaac. 

Daughter Kathy(Jim)Grubenhoff, their daughter, Lindsay (John) Lopez, their children, Olivia, Ethan and Dominic. Son Matthew (Allegra) Ganser. Son Gabe Lopez.

Daughter Meghan (Robert) Paeschke,their children Sydney, Jace and Carson. Son Matthew Grubenhoff . Daughter Kristen (Jason) Froelich.their daughter Maren.

Daughter Julia Knight. Her children Michael(Nicole) Shehata their children Christopher, Madeline and Gabriella. Elisabeth(Carlos) Martinez.  Andrew (Jackie) Shehata and their Daughter Harmony. 

Stepson Robert (Cathy) Bell, Stepdaughter Jackie (Larry) Olson, Stepdaughter Jana Bell.

Dad was preceded in death by his Parents William and Naomi Knight, his Brother Bill  Knight and three infant Grandsons.

Inurnment service will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 am  at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, Washington.  Those wishing to sign Bob's online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com  Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
