Robert "Bob" Brandom Obituary

Robert Dean Brandom, age 78, of Sunnyside, WA passed away on July 2, 2025 at his home in Sunnyside, WA. Bob was born on September 12, 1946 in Langdon, North Dakota, the son of Dorothy (Ryan) and Herbert M. Brandom.   He graduated from G.S.A in 1965 and later attended Walla Walla College for a short time.  In 1966 Bob was drafted into the United States Army where he served for two years and was stationed in Texas.  Bob moved to the Yakima Valley in 1974. He worked various jobs till he met Kathleen Reynolds.  They were married in 1978.  Bob worked at Tioga in Sunnyside for one and half years.  Then he was a night watchman at Van de Graff Cattle Company.   For nine years he ran the asparagus farm for Johnson Cold Storage.  Bob also worked at Hanford for twenty years until he retired.  Following his retirement Bob drove school bus for the Sunnyside School District and Sunnyside Christian School until health issues forced him to retire.  He volunteered for Outlook Fire Station for twenty-two years. 

Bob is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Kathie), daughter Christina, son John and his granddaughter Elizabeth.  Sisters Cathy Finlayson and Linda Yost and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside inurnment service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA.  Those wishing to sign Bob’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com  Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangement.
