Rochelle Y. Alba, 69 passed away peacefully on July 12, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Portland, OR, on July 16, 1951, to Marvin and Dorothy Scott, Rochelle grew up in Salem, OR, and was a graduate of McNary High School. In early 1975 Rochelle moved to Summit, WA and later that same year moved and made her home in Grandview, WA. There she raised three boys and was kept busy attending their many sporting activities. Rochelle was also actively involved in the Grandview City Soccer Program. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for Yakima Concrete, title clerk at Fergie’s Cars & Trucks and as a bookkeeper for Catholic Family Charities. She was well known and admired for her professionalism and attention to detail. She was also an Office Manager for over 20 years at Alba’s Excavating.
Rochelle loved life’s simple pleasures such as gardening, reading a good book, dancing and her long standing, weekly girlfriend’s dinner night out. She was a member of ladies bowling team and well known for her potato salad. It also goes without saying, she was fond of a trip to a casino.
Rochelle had a kind heart and always had a hug and a kiss waiting for her loved ones. Along with a smile that would lovingly greet you. She taught us so much – hard work, strength, perseverance, kindness, and being strong together. Her family is forever grateful for the gift that was her life.
She is survived by her two sons, Samuel G. Sundet and wife Doreen, Scott Quinn and wife Juanita, all of Grandview; mother, Dorothy Scott, of Prosser; sister, Daniele Brownell and husband Marv, of Arizona; daughter-in-law, Christina Sundet, of Pasco; five grandchildren Natashia Castro and husband Gabriel, of Grandview, Devin Bernhardson, of Kennewick, Samuel T.
